I am an Egyptian contemporary artist whose journey with art began in childhood, when I used to paint members of my family, especially my late beloved father. Over time, this natural emotional expression evolved into a deep passion for the arts in their various forms. Driven by this passion, I pursued art academically and professionally. Today, I am a Professor of Sculpture Design at the Faculty of Applied Arts, Helwan University, Egypt.
Since my early undergraduate years, I have been actively engaged in the Egyptian Fine Art Movement, participating in numerous local and international exhibitions. My most recent solo exhibition took place at the School of Art and Design, Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom.
My artistic practice spans multiple disciplines, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, digital sculpture, and product design. I work with a diverse range of materials such as aluminum, copper, clay, and PVC, exploring their expressive and structural possibilities. My artistic journey began with classical art and gradually evolved toward abstraction, where I found broader space to investigate form, space, and symbolic meaning. I have been influenced by several renowned artists, particularly Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, and Constantin Brancusi, whose approaches to sculptural essence deeply resonate with my own.
Alongside my artistic and academic career, I have also been engaged in public and parliamentary work, driven by a strong belief in the role of culture and visual arts in shaping social awareness and supporting community development. I had the honor of serving as a Member of the Egyptian Parliament, and I was also selected as a Member of the International Secretariat of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO). These roles enriched my perspective on the cultural and civilizational dialogue between societies and emphasized the importance of art as a bridge between identity and collective consciousness.
I firmly believe that art has the power to reshape the soul and elevate the human experience. The artist’s role is to glorify life and reveal beauty, even in places where others may not see it. Art and visual culture, in my view, are foundational pillars that have shaped and enriched the great civilizations throughout history—nurturing imagination, awareness, and humanity.
